Padouk.

Padauk is a genus of wood derived from the tree species of Pterocarpus. It occurs in Africa- mostly within the area of the Congo Republic and Zaire. It is also called Vermillion. Its wood is quite heavy and very though. Just as most of the exotic species, this wood is characterized by an excellent durability and resistance to weather conditions and moisture. This wood can be easily processed. Padauk has similar color to mahogany wood- it is brownish red, brown with orange tints. The wood pattern is clearly visible. Its grains are strait and quite regular. Padauk is perfect in production of floors, doors, window frames and stairs. It is used in furniture industry, violin-making, boat building, furniture fitting, indoor and outdoor woodwork.
