Limba/Frake.

Limba/Frake is a species of a pine tree of Pinaceae family. It grows in the Alps and Carpathian Mountains (Tatra Mountains, eastern and southern Carpathian Mountains) of central Europe. It grows in coniferous forest along with European larch, typically at 1,200 metres to 2,300 metres altitude. This is a slow growing and longevous tree, resistant to low temperatures, wind and insects. Stone pine was comprehensively used in the past, and the seeds, commonly referred to as nuts, were edible and used as a natural medicine. Stone pine oil is obtained through a steam distillation process from stems and resin. Due to intensive tree logging, the area covered by stone pine had once diminished in past. Stone pine belongs rather to a uncultivated species, due to a slow growth of the trees and the difficulty in finding its seeds.
